The Umschlagplatz is about 15 minutes walk from the Jewish museum, follow the Path of Remembrance which is marked by 16 granite blocks.
The Umschlagplatz was a holding area set up by Nazi Germany adjacent to a railway station in occupied Poland, where the ghettoised Jews were assembled for deportation to death camps during the ghetto liquidation. The largest such collection point consisted of a city square in occupied Warsaw next to the Warsaw Ghetto, used for several months during daily deportations of 254,000 – 265,000 Warsaw Jews to the Treblinka extermination camp.

Keep on learning

Janusz Korczak
UNESCO named him “Man of the Year”, is unknown hero outside of Poland, his story should be shared and be an insight of human kindness.
Janusz  introduced progressive orphanages designed as just communities into Poland, founded the first national children´s newspaper, trained teachers in what we now call moral education, and worked in juvenile courts defending children’s rights. Also he was a famous  children’s author writing fiction and pedagogy.

The orphanage and staff  was forced to move to the Warsaw Ghetto in 1940, Janusz  had been offered sanctuary on the “Aryan side” but turned it down and moved into the Ghetto with the children. In 1942 German soldiers came to collect the 192 orphans staff to transport them to Treblinka extermination camp, again Janusz refused offers of sanctuary, insisting that he would go with the children.
There is no actual record of what happens once they reach Treblinka, one thing we do know is that Januaz and the staffed would of stayed with the children until the very end.
He told the orphans they were going out into the country, so they ought to be cheerful, he told them to wear their best clothes, and so they came out into the yard, two by two, nicely dressed and in a happy mood. The little column was led by an SS man…….

What do you use?

As wannabe photographer I had to pick entry-level DSLRs camera, after hours reading reviews, talking to sale advice, I bought Nikon digital camera D3100. It’s great as a starter kit as it inexpensive and easy to use and would definitely recommend if you want a nice designed and  enjoyable to DSLR.
After 4 years I feel ready for a upgrade and Nikon D5300 has caught my eye, this is a mid-of the-range, all-dancing and all-singing camera, the specs which has me hook are, built-in Wi-Fi which will make it easy transfer images to phone or any  smart device, and a remote shooting function that lets you release the shutter from a distance with a phone.
What camera do you use?

Parliament House (Budynek Sejmu). The parliament of Poland has an upper house, the Senate, and a lower house, the Sejm. Both houses are accommodated by the Sejm complex in Warsaw. The parliament itself is without an official name; the Constitution of Poland refers only to the Sejm and the Senate.
